During the early seventies, credit card was a status of financial power and success. Today, credit card has evolved into a card of convenience and necessity.

There are certain financial transactions today that are best be transacted with the plastic money. These transactions include e-commerce, mobile commerce and contactless transactions.

There is no denial that credit card or commonly known as plastic money has enjoyed a substantial share of the financial transactions in today world. The numbers is still growing.

I believe payment cards will continue to stay in the financial transaction world for a long time.

I spent more than twenty years of working experience in three major credit and payment card companies in Asia.  After working in the card industry for so many years, the card has been my passion and now has become part of my life.

I build this blog to share with you some of my good and bad experience encountered during my working years in the card industry.

I will share stories on topics in Finance and Operations in a card company. Occasionally I will put real cases on problems with cardholders and merchants. I will also show how such problems are solved.

In addition to that, I will also touch on operating procedures weaknesses that were easily overlooked by card companies. I believe such weaknesses still happened in today environment.

As the technology advances, many manual procedures are automated or computerized to enhance speed and efficiency. It is a known fact that automation and computerization can help a card company to improve revenue and exercise better control over fraud and operating weaknesses.

While automation and computerization have its advantages, it also has it disadvantages.  In an automated and computerized environment, many staff tends to forgot or do not know the reasons behind why a certain procedures are performed these ways. I would take the opportunities to share what I know about them.
